The London-born soprano Ania Vegry studied with Christiane Iven and Charlotte Lehmann in Hanover and with Teresa Berganza in Madrid. After an engagement at the Hanover Staatsoper, she is now a member of the Theater Dessau ensemble, where next season she will sing Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Roxana in Szymanowski’s Król Roger, and Violetta in Verdi’s La traviata. Her concert repertoire ranges from Monteverdi and Bach to Nono and Reimann. Guest engagements have taken Ania Vegry to the Opéra national de Paris and the Deutsche Oper and Komische Oper in Berlin, as well as to the Gasteig in Munich, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Rheingau Music Festival, and the Sommerliche Tage and Musikwoche Hitzacker. She has recorded opera arias by Florian Gassmann, for whose music she has also served as an editor, as well as the complete works for voice and piano by the Polish-Jewish composer Simon Laks.
