Not everyone who travels to the piano summit held in Lucerne in late November has to be a master pianist. He or she can also only wish to become one. For LUCERNE FESTIVAL is a place where the generations can engage in exchange. Through master classes, renowned artists encounter talented young people with whom they share their wisdom and experience. Each year, as part of the Piano Festival, we offer a master class in collaboration with the Hochschule Luzern – Musik. In 2017 this will be led by Ferenc Rados, one of the most celebrated piano teachers of Hungary. Born in 1934 in Budapest, he taught for many years at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in his native city, where his students included the likes of Zoltán Kocsis, Dezső Ránki, and András Schiff. Ferenc Rados will work with the participants of his Lucerne master class to prepare a repertoire that ranges from the Baroque to classical Modernism. Auditors who are interested in listening in are cordially welcome, and for students of the Hochschule Luzern − Musik, entrance is free as a matter of course.
