The soprano Sarah Maria Sun, who was born in 1978, studied with Klesie Kelly-Moog in Cologne and Julia Hamari in Stuttgart before continuing her training with Sybille Knappe and Darinka Segota. As a specialist in the music of today, she was first soprano of the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart from 2007 to 2014. Additional credits have taken her to the Berlin Staatsoper; the Opéra Bastille in Paris; the opera companies of Basel, Dresden, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Mannheim, and Stuttgart; the Berlin and Cologne Philharmonie halls; the Amsterdam Muziekgebouw; the Tonhalle in Zurich; and the Paris, Venice, and Munich Biennales. She has worked with Sir Simon Rattle and Kent Nagano, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and such new-music groups as the Ensemble Modern, the Ensemble Musikfabrik, and the Arditti Quartet. In 2014 she took part in the Frankfurt premiere of Rolf Riehm’s opera Sirenen.
