Change of Program Summer Festival 2019

We would like to draw your attention to the following changes in the program for the Lucerne Festival Orchestra’s concerts:

Music Director Riccardo Chailly will lead the Lucerne Festival Orchestra in three concert programs, which will feature works by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Mahler. The Orchestra will also perform a newly announced fourth program, at which we welcome Yannick Nézet-Séguin as guest conductor. He will lead a performance of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Concerto with “artiste étoile” Leonidas Kavakos as the soloist and of the Fourth Symphony by Dmitri Shostakovich.

Please note as well the new programming of the Fourth Symphony by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky as part of Symphony Concert 1 on 17 August, along with the Third Piano Concerto by Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The programs for the Opening Concert on 16 August as well as for the concert on 24 August (Symphony Concert 6) remain unchanged.

You can find the complete programs here.
