Program for 2018

LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA | Bernard Haitink © Stefan Deuber/LUCERNE FESTIVAL

In his third year as Music Director of the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA, Riccardo Chailly will conduct three different programs, turning his attention to Russia (with such works as Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird) as well as France (with Claude Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, Maurice Ravel's ballet Daphnis und Chloé, and other works).  And the will explore Anton Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony, which will be combined with overtures by Bruckner’s idol, Richard Wagner. To open the Summer Festival, Riccardo Chailly and the musicians of the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA will be joined by the Chinese pianist Lang Lang.

Also note: with our subscription series “LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA Complete,” you can make sure you have tickets to all three concerts now, before official ticket sales begin (available for purchase until 9 February 2018).
