They are young, highly talented, and eager to experiment. The international students of the Lucerne Festival Academy, who number approximately 100, will once again give Festival audiences a chance to make countless discoveries in the summer of 2022 – with modern classics and brand-new scores, whether in major orchestral concerts with large ensembles or in smaller formations.

Master school, laboratory for the future, orchestra of excellence for the music of our time: the Lucerne Festival Academy is all of these. In the summer of 2022, these more than 100 musical talents from all over the world will meet composer-in-residence Thomas Adès, whose new work for violin and orchestra they will premiere together with Anne-Sophie Mutter. They will also venture a group improvisation with “artiste étoile” Tyshawn Sorey, perform with the JACK Quartet, and celebrate the birthdays of Academy Director Wolfgang Rihm and Dieter Ammann.
