Beethoven leads the way into the new Festival season! Under the direction of Riccardo Chailly and Pablo Heras-Casado, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra will perform selected Beethoven symphonies, as well as the Violin Concerto featuring the emerging star violinist Daniel Lozakovich as the soloist. In addition, a marvelous roster of soloists from the orchestra will perform a chamber concert featuring works by Dvořák and Tchaikovsky.
Since 2022, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra has no longer been limiting its performances to the summer. It now attracts classical music fans from all over the world to Lucerne in the spring as well for the three-day festival of music it presents on the weekend before Easter, with a focus on a single composer in orchestral and chamber concerts. Felix Mendelssohn kicked off the festival in 2022-23 with performances of his five symphonies, which were juxtaposed with works by his most significant contemporaries. The Spring Festival now continues with a fresh look at Ludwig van Beethoven.
