Christian Casal is a Director of McKinsey & Company and leads the Firm’s Swiss offices in Zurich and Geneva. He led McKinsey’s EMEA Banking practice from 2007 to 2011 and also served as a member of the Shareholders Council, the Firm’s global board of directors, from 2009 to 2015. He joined McKinsey in Zurich in October 1988 and spent a year on transfer to the Greater China office in Hong Kong in 1993. Christian, born in 1961, and a citizen of Schiers/GR, grew up in Rapperswil/SG. He is a member of several organizations promoting Switzerland’s interests, including avenir suisse, Switzerland’s think tank for economic and social issues. He is also a member of the Boards of Schweizer Berghilfe (Swiss Mountain Aid) and the Lucerne Festival. Christian holds a master’s degree in International Economics and Econometrics and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of St. Gallen. Prior to his work at McKinsey, he worked in the Investment Banking division of a major Swiss bank. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, chess and mountaineering.
