    In the summer of 2023, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, the de luxe orchestra, which was introduced to the public for the first time on 14 August 2003 under the baton of Claudio Abbado, celebrates its 20th birthday.

    Anniversary events

    The 20th anniversary of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra will be celebrated both inside and outside the concert hall. Look forward to artist talks, concert highlights in the cinema, and a photo exhibition in the KKL foyer. Plus you get to meet the orchestra after the opening concert on the Inseli!

    • Classic at the cinema: Great moments from 20 years of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra

      To mark the orchestra’s 20th anniversary, Lucerne's “stattkino” will screen a total of seven recordings of historically significant concerts between 9 and 20 August; these concerts were conducted by Claudio Abbado or Riccardo Chailly and will be accompanied by personal interviews with the figures involved.
