Ekaterina Shcherbachenko (soprano)

Ekaterina Scherbachenko (Damir Yusupov) 

Ekaterina Scherbachenko studied with Marina Alekseeva at the Moscow State Conservatory and is prize winner of numerous competitions. In 2005 she took third prize at the Shizuoka Opera Competition; in 2006 she was awarded several distinctions at the Concurso de Canto Francisco Vinas, and in 2009 she won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition. The soprano’s first stage experiences took place at the Stanislavsky Opera; in 2005 she made her debut as Natasha in War and Peace at the Bolshoi Theater, where she later appeared as Puccini’s Liù and Mimì; as Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Tatyana; and as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen. She has toured with the Bolshoi Ensemble to the Palais Garnier in Paris and La Scala in Milan. Further credits have been with Lyon Opera, the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and the Ravenna Festival. Elena Scherbachenko has sung in concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.
