Danusha Waskiewicz (viola)

Danusha Waskiewicz  

Violist Danusha Waskiewicz, who was born in 1973, studied violin and viola in her native Würzburg and later studied with Walter Forchert and Tabea Zimmermann at the Frankfurt College of Music. Her first orchestral experiences were with the National Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. At the ARD Music Competition in Munich in 2000 she won not only first prize but two special awards from the Busch Brothers Company and the Walter Weichsler Foundation. Between 1999 and 2004, Waskiewicz was a member of the Berlin Philharmonic, and she has worked with the Chamber Orche-stra of Europe as well as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra since 2002; in 2004 she became a member of the Orchestra Mozart in Bologna 2002; in 2004 she performed with this ensemble, together with violinist Giuliano Carmignola, as soloist in Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante K. 364 under the direction of Claudio Abbado.
