Andreas Conrad  

Tenor Andreas Conrad, a native of Magdeburg, studied with Marianne Fischer-Kupfer at the Dresden Music Academy; between 1984 and 2007 he was a member of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin, where he was named to the position of Kammersänger in 1998. Along with this permanent engagement, he also developed an international career performing character roles on the world’s leading stages. Credits include Janáček’s From the House of the Dead at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at La Scala in Milan, the Hauptmann in Berg’s Wozzeck at the Paris Opera Bastille, and Aron in Schoenberg’s Moses und Aron at the Ruhr Triennale. He has also performed at the Salzburg Festival, in Aix-en-Provence, at the Royal Opera House in London, and in Vienna, collaborating with such directors as Kupfer, Neuenfels, Decker, and Chéreau – and of course with such renowned conductors as Abbado, Boulez, Davis, Masur, and Ozawa as well.
