This summer’s Debut series launches with a top-class oboist. Ivan Podyomov was born in 1986 in the port city of Arkhangelsk in northern Russia and studied at the Gnessin Academy in Moscow as well as with Maurice Bourgue in Geneva. He has won numerous competition awards, including first prizes at the Prague Spring in 2008 and the Karuizawa Competition in Japan in 2009 and, in 2010, second prize as well as the audience award at the Concours de Genève; in 2011 he garnered second prize at the ARD International Music Competition. As a soloist Podyomov has already appeared with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin. He has performed in recitals and chamber music programs at the Louvre in Paris, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Prague’s Rudolfinum, and the Herkulessaal in Munich. For his Lucerne debut Podyomov has selected an original program that includes rarities of the repertoire by Martin, Britten, and Haas.
