Improvisations by the Stellari String Quartet
Swiss violist and performance artist Charlotte Hug seeks out new forms by which to organize orchestral sounds and processes in “Nachtplasmen,” the fourth part of her Lucerne project titled “Hidden Signs – Phases of Matter of the Night.” The musicians will play and improvise in the darkened concert hall, following the instructions of a video score – an utterly new experience for the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ACADEMY students, who thus have an opportunity to share in the creative process. And because such an open-ended work continually produces varying results, “Nachtplasmen” will be performed twice, with an improvisation by the Stellari String Quartet in-between.
