The “(z)eidgenössisCH” Festival concludes with a performance in the Jesuitenkirche featuring works especially written for this sacred space and calling for instruments associated with church music, such as organ and trombone. The human voice will of course also be heard, whether in smaller vocal ensembles or as a chorus. “Music is a holy art,” to quote the famous saying of Hugo von Hofmannsthal in Strauss’s “Ariadne auf Naxos”—to which one might add: so is new music, as these four world premieres and five additional works will undoubtedly show.
