The LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA’s interpretive ideal is to play the great orchestral repertory with the sort of transparent clarity you expect from chamber music. Hence, its members also appear in chamber recitals every year: Together with soloists from the orchestra, Hélène Grimaud, our “artist étoile” for Summer 2010, will perform Schumann's First Piano Trio, and will also partner at the keyboard for three sonatas: with Jacques Zoon for Poulenc’s melodically seductive Flute Sonata, with Rafael Christ in Ravel’s playful Violin Sonata in G major, and with Wolfram Christ in a profound late work of Johannes Brahms.
