The LUCERNE FESTIVAL is now in its fifth year of sponsoring music groups from around the world in performances that take place in the streets and plazas of Lucerne’s historic Altstadt. This year, as part of our festival motto of “Eros,” we will welcome groups from North and South America and from Italy, Spain, and the Czech Republic. The majority of these groups represent the field of world music, with deep roots in their respective local traditions and folklore. They will perform each evening from Tuesday, August 24, until Sunday, August 29, in the Mühleplatz, the Kornmarkt, the Kapellplatz, and the Jesuitenplatz, between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. (and during the daytime as well on Saturday). In addition, there will be an event to launch the Street Festival in front of the KKL Luzern, and a special program for its final day that will feature appearances on the lake promenade and a closing celebration in the KKL Luzern.
