She was given her first violin from her grandfather when she was only six. And Veronika Eberle, who was born in Donauwörth in southern Germany in 1988, knew how to make the most of this gift. Following lessons with Christoph Poppen, she studied with Ana Chumachenco, garnered numerous prizes, and was supported by scholarships. Simon Rattle introduced her in 2006 at a rehearsal held for sponsors at the Salzburg Easter Festival, while she has since made guest appearances at Carnegie Hall, in New York, the Marlboro Festival, the Salzburg Mozartwoche, and the Herkulessaal in Munich. “Süddeutsche Zeitung” critic Harald Eggebrecht heard her at the latter venue and wrote: “Concerts such as this evening of sonatas with 20-year-old Veronika Eberle and her excellent keyboard piano Oliver Schnyder belong to those experiences that even a professional concertgoer chances upon all too rarely…. She interpreted Janáček’s Sonata as an explosively existential confession, with harsh attacks, while the young Richard Strauss’s Sonata became a feast of intoxicatingly sensual violin playing—it was an experience.”
