"tasten"
Compositions by John Cage, Morton Feldman, György Ligeti, Isabel Mundry (world premiere), Sergei Rachmaninov, Robert Schumann, Martin Schütz (world premiere)
The word "tasten" has a double meaning in German, being either the keys of a keyboard or the act of touching or groping. Here the process involves exploring interior and exterior spaces, ideas, visions, dimensions and perspectives. But it also involves touching – generating sounds, gestures and movements which themselves trigger multi-level associations and images.
The dancer and the two pianists mark out territories with their contrasting approaches and modes of expression, moving like a reconnaissance troop through a labyrinth of decisions, directions, ideas, actions, experiences and patterns, and groping for potential pathways. Pathways and detours open up and vanish, branch and intersect, mark borders and dissolve. Music, images and visions make it possible to press forward into borderline areas. Theatre can tap imaginary spaces, vivid ideas and vulnerable inner worlds, always sharpening and stimulating the senses for a differentiated and multi-level perception of reality.
