Moderated concert featuring all of the Off-Stage pianists:
Andreas Müller-Crépon moderation
Just 88 keys, but thousands of possibilities: “The piano is capable of everything,” as Alfred Brendel once proudly observed. Which also means that the piano isn’t limited to classical music but is an instrument suited to playing jazz as well. For the 11th time this year, internationally acclaimed masters of improvisation will converge on our city on the lake to take part in Piano Off-Stage – our small but classy Jazz Festival within the Festival. In the traditional opening evening event held in the KKL, they will introduce themselves, first in interviews with Andreas Müller-Crépon, but above all with their playing as they dream, swing, and groove at the keyboard. Then they will head out to Lucerne’s finest bars and lounges and make the city resound with music over a five-day period – starting in the evening and continuing until late into the night.
