LUCERNE FESTIVAL deeply appreciates the material and non-material support it receives from its associations of friends. Founded in 1966, the Friends of LUCERNE FESTIVAL cover roughly eight percent of the total budget every year with their contributions, thereby greatly helping to secure the Festival’s finances. Not only have the Friends emerged as the Festival's most generous sponsor, they have also become an important ambassador with their non-material support.

In addition to first options on tickets for all events, the Friends of LUCERNE FESTIVAL have the pleasure of being able to attend rehearsals, meet-the-artist talks, and social events. Especially popular since 2004 is the annual music tour, which allows its members to accompany the LUCERNE FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA and Claudio Abbado on their foreign residencies.
